Toronto hosted the North American Figure Skating Championships in 1927, 1939 and 1959. The North American Championships was an elite-level competition held every two years from 1923 to 1971.

Sisters Carol Heiss and Nancy Heiss won ladies’ gold and bronze in 1959, three-time US men’s champion Robin Lee won silver in 1939, three-time Olympic medalist Beatrix Loughran won ladies’ gold in 1927 and her Olympic pairs partner Sherwin Badger won men’s silver that same year.
