Privacy Policy

  • The Skating Club of New York (“the Club”) website does not use cookies except as follows:

    • Our implementation of the open-source Joomla! content management system creates a single “session cookie” that notes (i.e., remembers) your user status and is essential to the operation of any Joomla! website. This session cookie expires once your browser is closed.
    • We include Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds on the right panel of certain pages. Both the Facebook and Twitter feeds employ session cookies. We also include a Facebook Like/Share button at the bottom of certain articles. This also employs a session cookie.
    • We are unaware of any other cookies on our website.
  • The Club’s website does not collect personal data relating to any guest visitor (Guest User), unless:

    • Guest User has submitted an online form to the Club. In such instances, the website logs the submission and maintains a back-end administrative record of its contents. Upon receipt, such contents are automatically summarized and forwarded by email to the Executive Director of the Club, the website administrator (a member of the Club’s board of directors), and such other directors of the Club as the Executive Director deems appropriate.
    • All such submissions are treated confidentially. Such forms are NEVER used to obtain financial information and they NEVER request sensitive personal identifying or financial information such as:

      • Social security number
      • Date of birth
      • Bank account numbers or routing codes
      • Income, assets, net worth, or other measures of financial ability
      • Credit or debit card numbers
    • The forms DO REQUEST sufficient contact information to adequately respond to Guest User’s questions, comments or requests. Such contact information generally includes:

      • Name, email address and cell phone number of the person submitting the online form
      • USFSA identifying skater ID number if the form is submitted on behalf of a skater
  • Notwithstanding paragraph 2 above, a Guest User can use our website as a gateway to:

    • Donate to the Club using PayPal
    • Purchase Club-related “spirit wear”, ice time, tickets to events, and other Club-related merchandise using PayPal
    • Purchase Club-related “spirit wear”, ice time, tickets to events, and other Club-related merchandise via our EntryEeze portal using Square
    • Purchase Club-related merchandise from zazzle.com.

    When a Guest User uses the Club’s website as a gateway for making such a donation or purchase, the entire transaction, including the transmission of sensitive financial information, is conducted on the website of the clearly-identified third-party payment processor (PayPal, Square or Zazzle), and not on the website of the Club. The only information that the Club receives during an online financial transaction is the contact information of the donor or purchaser, the amount of such donation or purchase, and, where relevant, information clarifying shipping or what was purchased. The Club and its website are neither privy to nor electronic conduits for credit card or other financial information.

    In the case of items purchased on zazzle.com, transactions occur at the zazzle.com website and fulfillment of the purchase is handled exclusively by Zazzle, Inc. The Club receives a modest commission on such sales, plus access to an online sales record summary. The sales record summary does not include private financial information relating to the purchaser.

  • The Club’s website does not have a subscribed user base. The website is built on the open source content management system, Joomla 3.9.x, and has NO REGISTERED USERS EXCEPT SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS – all of whom are members of the Club’s board of directors. The Club is a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit amateur athletic organization incorporated in the State of New York.
