1991 ISU Grand Prix Skate America
Rocky Marval (and Calla Urbanski) were America’s top pairs team during the early 1990s, winning the US senior pairs’ title in 1992 and 1993, a silver medal in 1991, plus a gold medal at 1991 Skate America in Oakland. They placed fourth that season at Grand Prix Lalique in Albertville, France and tenth two months later at the Albertville Olympics.
2014 Pacific Coast Sectional Figure Skating Championships
Oakland hosted Pacific Coast Sectionals during the 2013-14 season. Chloe Lewis (All Year FSC) and Logan Bye (SCNY) won the sectional junior ice dance title, one season after winning the US novice dance title in Omaha, Nebraska. They won two national medals at the junior level — a pewter in 2017 and a bronze in 2018.
1998 US Adult Figure Skating Championships
SCNY member Kristine McFerren won the Ladies Silver I title when Oakland hosted Adult Nationals in 1998. John-Patrick Hull won a silver medal in masters men.
