2001 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships
The New England Sports Center hosted Eastern Sectionals during the 2000-01 season. SCNY member Johnny Weir won the senior men’s title in his first season skating senior. He was 16. He competed later that season at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria and also won gold.
Stephanie Roth won senior ladies’ bronze. At the junior level, Joanna Glick won ladies’ silver and Briana McInerney (and Joseph Jorgens) won pairs’ bronze. Jacqueline Jimenez and Themistocles Leftheris won the 2001 Easter Sectional Novice Pairs’ title.
2001 and 2018 US Adult Figure Skating Championships
SCNY member John Tie won the Men’s Adult Silver I title at the US Adult Figure Skating Championships in 2001.
SCNY member Anna Drozda won the Ladies Adult Gold I title when Marlborough hosted Adult Nationals again in 2018. Fellow SCNY members Amy Engeler and Robert Engle won Adult Gold Dance silver, Mayumi Yamamoto won Ladies Adult Gold IV bronze, and Roland Jarquio won Mens Adult Gold II pewter.
Also medaling in 2018 were Rosalia Palumbo (and Gregory Ferree) in Adult Silver Pairs (bronze) and Rosalia Palumbo and Bradley Erickson in Adult Bronze Dance (pewter).
