Dorothy Hamill was senior ladies’ champion at the 1972 Richmond Trophy, four years before her Olympic gold medal in Innsbruck.

SCNY member Simone Grigorescu won bronze at the Richmond Trophy in 1979, and Yvonne Sherman won bronze at the 1950 World Figure Skating Championships.

Figure skating’s first appearance at the Olympics was at the 1908 Summer Games in London. Team USA’s sole entrant was four-time world champion and SCNY charter member Irving Brokaw. He placed sixth.
