Ina Kyoko - 1995 Eastern Sectional Senior Ladies' Champion and US Figure Skating Senior Ladies' Pewter Medalist

1996 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships

Few skaters compete at the senior level in both pairs and individual events. Even fewer achieve national and international prominance. SCNY and USFS Hall of Fame member Ina Kyoko was one such skater.

Ina’s final season competing individually was 1995-96, when she won the Eastern Sectional Senior Ladies’ title in Fitchburg, Massachusetts and Senior Ladies’ pewter medal at Nationals. That same year, she and Jason Dungjen won the second of three consecutive silver medals at Nationals in senior pairs. Together, they would win the US Senior Pairs’ title in 1997 and 1998 and place fourth at the 1998 Nagano Olympics.

Ina continued her career after Dungjen retired, winning three more US Senior Pairs’ titles with Hall of Fame partner John Zimmerman (2000, 2001, 2002), a bronze medal at the 2002 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, and a fifth place finish at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Also competing at the 1996 Eastern Sectional Championships in Fitchburg, Massachusetts were Diana Miro, who won Junior Ladies’ bronze, Tara Maceiko, who won Novice Ladies’ silver, and April Hillel, who won Intermediate Ladies’ bronze.
