Cortina
Carol Heiss was the ladies’ silver medalist at the 1956 Cortina Winter Olympics. It was the last silver medal of her storied career, but by no means her last medal. She won gold later that season at the 1956 World Figure Skating Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and continued winning gold until she retired. She won the US National Championships, North American Championships and World Figure Skating Championships in each of the next four seasons, completing her competitive skating with gold medal performances at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley and 1960 World Championships in Vancouver.
