Thank you for contributing to the
Skating Club of New York Annual Fund!

The Skating Club of New York's mission is to provide programs to encourage participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating, to conduct figure skating tests as prescribed by US Figure Skating and to organize and sponsor competitions, exhibitions and clinics. The Skating Club of New York is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit amateur athletic organization and all contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Background

In accordance with Rules TR 3.00, 4.01 and 4.02, skaters may now receive US Figure Skating test credit by meeting certain minimum PCS, TES and TSS scores at any U.S. competition held under the International Judging System (IJS). The athlete must “skate-up” and compete in the event for which they are seeking test credit, in addition to having already passed any prerequisites prior to the competition event.

For example, if an individual junior-level freestyle skater seeks senior-level freestyle test credit via IJS protocol, he or she must enter an IJS competition as a senior-level skater and meet the minimum PCS, TES and TSS requirements for senior-level test credit during that competition. Entering a junior-level event will not suffice in this example, regardless of score.

The deadline for submitting IJS protocols for test credit in the 2019-20 qualifying season is September 1, 2019.

Eligible events:

Click here for an information packet explaining how to obtain USFS test credit by competing.

The information packet contains forms that you and your coach need to complete and submit to the Skating Club of New York, together with a Test Credit Packet from the competition host, in order for us to process the competition protocols correctly. There is a $25 fee for this service, payable on-line when you submit the completed information package.

 Test Credit Package

(obtained by the skater or coach from the competition chair or host)

  • Your event segment results cover page. It must include the referee's and technical controller's signatures.
    Example
  • Your individual protocol.
    Example
  • Your Test Credit Skater Report, generated by the accountant. This has your name, your scores, and verifies you achieved a passing result.
    Example
  • Your Coach's signed statement.
    Example

These materials must be submitted, together with completed copies of the forms in the SCNY information packet, before the Skating Club of New York can process a competition protocol for US Figure Skating test credit.

How to Submit Documents for Test Credit

  • Make sure your documents are in acceptable electronic format. We accept PDF, JPG, TIF and ZIP files. If you do not have a scanner, a really clean digital photo of each document will do.
  • Have your credit card or PayPal login information ready.
  • Click the Add to Cart button in the Step 1 section and proceed to checkout. You should receive an automated receipt from us after you have paid the $25 reporting fee. Please jot down the Order ID at the top of the receipt. You will need it to complete the next step.
  • Complete the skater name, email, USFS number, phone number and order ID fields in Step 2.
  • Upload the files by clicking the Choose Files button. Upload multiple files by holding down the CTRL key while selecting them in your file browser.
  • Enter the Captcha and click the Submit button.
  • You should receive an automated email from us listing the files you have submitted.

Do not proceed to Step 2 until you have completed Step 1. Only paid submissions will be reviewed.

STEP 1 STEP 2

Please refer to the confirmation email you received when you competed on-line payment in Step 1. The Order ID is at the top of the confirmation. We will not process any IJS protocol for test credit if the Order ID is invalid.

Tests and protocols for test credit
are processed once monthly
on or about the 20th.

Don't miss out. Place your ad in the Third Annual SCNY Yearbook NOW!

We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed ads to the 2016 and 2017 editions. You made the SCNY Yearbook not only possible, but free to all SCNY members. We think the yearbook is the only perquisite of its kind among major US Figure Skating clubs. To keep this unique perk going, please consider taking out an ad.

Special offer

To generate additional ad revenue, we are rewarding each skater who brings in a full-page commercial ad (one that promotes a business or non-skating organization) with a free SCNY club session at Chelsea Piers Sky Rink during the 2017-18 season, with no limit on the number of club sessions a skater can "earn." If you skate at Sport-O-Rama, the Rinx, City Ice Pavilion, Dix Hills or Chelsea Piers Connecticut, we have a limited number of freestyle sessions to offer -- first come, first serve. To qualify for a freestyle or club session reward, simply ask the business or non-skating organization to complete the order reservation and payment form (see Step One below) and to include the referring skater's name and USFS number in the corresponding fields of the payment section, together with the words "skater referral" in the checkout section's comment box. We will notify you once we have received payment and send you the freestyle or club session voucher that you prefer.

2018 Luminaries and Rising Stars

[showplus] Critical error: Image folder root/images/rising_stars/2018 specified in the administration back-end does not exist or is inaccessible.

It has been an extraordinary year for The Skating Club of New York, with three Olympic bronze medals, a silver medal in dance at the world junior championships, the first-ever medal by a junior team at synchro worlds (a silver!), eight medals at the US Figure Skating Championships, including a national junior dance title, plus five medals at synchro nationals, including junior and novice national titles and plus berths at worlds for both a senior and junior team.

In addition to our Team USA skaters, we are immensely proud of the nearly 1,000 SCNY members of all levels and ages who compete locally, nationally and internationally, skate on one of our synchronized skating teams, appear in exhibitions, take freestyle, ice dance and moves-in-the-field tests, participate in Learn to Skate programs, and just skate their hearts out across our twelve member rinks. The purpose of the yearbook is to celebrate that commitment and we sincerely hope you will take part in it.

Purchasing an ad in the SCNY yearbook is great way to commemorate your skater’s progress, recognize their fans and thank everyone who has made them the skater they are.

Step LET'S GET STARTED!!

Step 1

Reserve a full page, half page, 2-page spread or several pages.

Expired
* Size of Article:

Order extra copies for your friends and family.

Your first copy of the yearbook is FREE and will be mailed to you by the end of May. Extra copies are $15 apiece.

Expired
All skaters: Please make sure that the mailing address we have on file for you at Entryeeze is up-to-date.

Do not proceed to Step 2 until you have completed this step (reserving space in the yearbook). We will disregard all submissions without a valid order confirmation number.

Step 2 [Don't forget about me!!]

Design your page.

Please refer to the confirmation email you received when you placed an order for space in the yearbook in Step 1. The Order Number is at the top of the confirmation. You will need to enter it to proceed to the next section.

Please tell us in the Layout Instructions field below how you would like your pages arranged- the more detail, the better.

If you choose to upload yearbook pages you prepared off-line, please upload them simultaneously (next page).

If your artwork is ready, click the Next button below. Otherwise, pause here and get your PDF or high-resolution JPG ready. If you prefer to work in PowerPoint or Word, remember to print your page to PDF. Our computers don't have the same fonts as yours, so our rendering of your Word or PowerPoint file will not be consistent.

Specifications:

  •       Full-page articles must be portrait 5 x 8 inches. Don't use images unless they measure at least 1024 pixels on the 5-inch side, preferably more.
  •       Half-page articles must be landscape 5 x 3¾ inches. Don't use images unless they measure at least 1024 pixels on the 5-inch side, again, preferably more.

Important: If you don't know how to output your work to a PDF or high-resolution image file, please have SCNY prepare the ad instead. You will have a chance to review and, if desired, modify it.

PDF files must be 300 dpi and match the dimensions of the page or half-page. JPG image files must have the same width-to-height ratio as the purchased page or half page, and must measure at least 1,024 pixels along the 5-inch side, preferably more.

Examine your photo(s) carefully before clicking Upload. If you ordered a half-page ad, your photo should probably be landscape. If you ordered a full-page ad, the photo should probably be portrait. Do not entrust photo cropping to us.

Also, make sure the uploaded photo is high-resolution, at least 1024 pixels on its 5-inch side.

Background images must be at least 1,024 pixels along the 5-inch side. Do not upload copyrighted images unless you are expressly authorized to use them.

We reserve the right to reject any submission that is negative, inflammatory, offensive or adverse to the yearbook's main purpose: celebrating our club's skaters, teams, coaches, officials and supporters.

Please be as clear, succinct and reasonable as possible.

Please complete the CAPTCHA below, then click the Submit button. We will send you a proof for your approval or modification as soon as it is available. Thank you for contributing to the yearbook!

All yearbook purchases and article submissions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Privacy Policy

  • The Skating Club of New York (“the Club”) website does not use cookies except as follows:
    • Our implementation of the open-source Joomla! content management system creates a single "session cookie" that notes (i.e., remembers) your user status and is essential to the operation of any Joomla! website. This session cookie expires once your browser is closed.
    • We include Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds on the right panel of certain pages. Both the Facebook and Twitter feeds employ session cookies. We also include a Facebook Like/Share button at the bottom of certain articles. This also employs a session cookie.
    • We are unaware of any other cookies on our website.
  • The Club’s website does not collect personal data relating to any guest visitor (Guest User), unless:
    • Guest User has submitted an online form to the Club. In such instances, the website logs the submission and maintains a back-end administrative record of its contents. Upon receipt, such contents are automatically summarized and forwarded by email to the Executive Director of the Club, the website administrator (a member of the Club’s board of directors), and such other directors of the Club as the Executive Director deems appropriate.
    • All such submissions are treated confidentially. Such forms are NEVER used to obtain financial information and they NEVER request sensitive personal identifying or financial information such as:
      • Social security number
      • Date of birth
      • Bank account numbers or routing codes
      • Income, assets, net worth, or other measures of financial ability
      • Credit or debit card numbers
    • The forms DO REQUEST sufficient contact information to adequately respond to Guest User’s questions, comments or requests. Such contact information generally includes:
      • Name, email address and cell phone number of the person submitting the online form
      • USFSA identifying skater ID number if the form is submitted on behalf of a skater
  • Notwithstanding paragraph 2 above, a Guest User can use our website as a gateway to:
    • Donate to the Club using PayPal
    • Purchase Club-related “spirit wear”, ice time, tickets to events, and other Club-related merchandise using PayPal
    • Purchase Club-related “spirit wear”, ice time, tickets to events, and other Club-related merchandise via our EntryEeze portal using Square
    • Purchase Club-related merchandise from zazzle.com.

When a Guest User uses the Club’s website as a gateway for making such a donation or purchase, the entire transaction, including the transmission of sensitive financial information, is conducted on the website of the clearly-identified third-party payment processor (PayPal, Square or Zazzle), and not on the website of the Club. The only information that the Club receives during an online financial transaction is the contact information of the donor or purchaser, the amount of such donation or purchase, and, where relevant, information clarifying shipping or what was purchased. The Club and its website are neither privy to nor electronic conduits for credit card or other financial information.

In the case of items purchased on zazzle.com, transactions occur at the zazzle.com website and fulfillment of the purchase is handled exclusively by Zazzle, Inc. The Club receives a modest commission on such sales, plus access to an online sales record summary. The sales record summary does not include private financial information relating to the purchaser.
  • The Club’s website does not have a subscribed user base. The website is built on the open source content management system, Joomla 3.9.x, and has NO REGISTERED USERS EXCEPT SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS – all of whom are members of the Club’s board of directors. The Club is a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit amateur athletic organization incorporated in the State of New York.
