The Skating Club of New York provided a wonderful source of community to me during my career. I’m happy to support the current and future generations by contributing to the fund.

- Sarah Hughes, 2002 Olympic Gold Medalist

SCNY has consistently made such a difference in my skating career! I love the idea of being able to give back in this small way and improve their ability to help future athletes! I hope you will consider helping the future too!”

- Danny O'Shea, Team USA, 2016 U.S. Pairs Champion and 2018 Four Continents Pairs Champion

The 1863 Society was established by the Skating Club of New York in 2018 to commemorate now-160 years of service to the New York, United States and world skating community. During that period, the club has been home to tens of thousands of New York-area recreational and competitive athletes, developed hundreds of national champions, administered thousands of US Figure Skating test sessions, and hosted hundreds of competitions and exhibitions. In addition, the club each year devotes tens of thousands of dollars to: direct scholarships for its up-and-coming and elite skaters; subsidized “club ice” for its members; and financial assistance for its teams.
All this costs money – more than the organization receives from competition fees, membership dues and test fees. To bridge the gap, we sell spirit wear, conduct auctions and host occasional fundraisers. Our 150th year gala in January 2014 was a wonderful example, one which enabled us to increase substantially our commitment to the SCNY athletic scholarship fund.

The 1863 Society is a cumulative honor roll of anyone who has made a cash donation – however small – to the Skating Club of New York and its non-profit, community-based mission.

Whether you skate on club ice sessions or at club rinks, compete in SCNY competitions, are a part of one of our Synchro teams, are an alum, or just a fan of SCNY, we hope you and your family will consider making a contribution of $18.63, $186.30 or any amount to the SCNY 1863 Society – your 100% tax-deductible donation will help us underwrite and expand our annual initiatives, competitions, ice shows, etc, and will allow us to continue to support our community service efforts.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!

The Skating Club of New York hosts the 96th Middle Atlantic Figure Skating Championships September 8-11, 2022 at Sky Rink. It is the longest continuously-run figure skating competition in North America, older even than Nationals. It is also one of the largest and most popular competitions in the nation, with events spanning two rinks for four full days. It draws skaters and officials from all over the world and has been a proving ground for dozens of eventual national and international champions.

Mids depends 100% on club volunteers and needs your help!
Please check your calendar and volunteer whatever time you can. It is a golden opportunity to watch some fabulous skating up close, and to contribute to the club we all love. For high school and middle school students, it is a great way to earn community service.
Send us an email at mail@thescny.org describing when and how you'd like to volunteer. We will get back to you promptly about your tentative assignments. Thank you for your assistance!
