Chloe Katz and Joe Lynch won the silver medal in Pairs at the Coupe de Nice competition in France in October 2008. A terrific start of the season for them. Congratulations!

Congratulations Maia & Alex!

Club member Maia Shibutani and her brother Alex won the gold medal in  Ice Dance at the Junior Grand Prix Series event in Courchevel, France in August 2008.

Maia and Alex went on to win the silver medal at the Junior Grand Prix Series in Madrid at the end of September. A great way to start the season!

Club Ice at Sky Rink

The club ice season at Sky Rink starts this year on October 1, 2008 and goes thru May 27, 2009. 

Subscriptions are sold to club members at the beginning of the season.

The club will offer a special ice package for 3 sessions in September  (Sept 17, 21, 24) for our skaters going to Regionals. Details have been emailed to Competitive members in the club.

The Will Sears Fund Exhibition of Champions

 

The exhition featured the Gold medalists in the Juvenile and above levels, along with special guests - including World Junior Gold medalist ADAM RIPPON and 1994 Olympic Champion OKSANA BAIUL.  The Exhibition of Champions is a benefit for the Will Sears Fund, which raises money to award prize money to the US National Junior Pairs Gold Medalists and all of the Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice and Junior Gold Medalists at Mids.

 

Membership Renewal

Current members of SCNY should have received the membership application and the annual meeting notice in the mail. Please  send in your membership renewals and the meeting proxy (if you cannot attend on May 28th). We will start processing renewals with US Figure Skating on June 1st. (Skating year runs July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009)   

Permission forms for the 2008/09 season will be mailed in the order your paperwork is received and processed. If you need a new season permission form urgently, please mark your paperwork accordingly. Or email your request to the club at mail@thescny.org

Coaches, your membership renewals have an additional step.  After you renew your membership through SCNY, your regular US Figure Skating membership is automatically renewed as well.  This year, you also have to go to the US Figure Skating  web site to verify your liability insurance and provide information for the required background check. This step is required by all coaches who plan to have skaters test or compete for U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned events - this includes Mids, SCNY test sessions, etc.  Link for additional information.
